| The WorkStar (Working lamp) |
|
This lamp is offered as a modification to your existing Oldham GT headset, and with a fixed battery, on either a short cable for helmet mount, or a long cable. This is to keep the cost down and make it suitable for groups of young people. Switch position #1 gives main beam of approximately 125 to 150 lumens. It is a well defined beam with very good throw. The 2 cell Li Ion will enable this to rum for 7 to 8 hours. Switch position #2 Gives a soft yellowy illumination similar to a traditional bulb. I call this "softlight mode" and it will burn for about 15 hours. Output is about 60 lumens. Current draw. Main beam 700 mA Pilot 300 mA Recharges through standard Oldham charger. This lamp is primarily aimed at outdoor centres who take children underground who struggle with the heavy Oldham lead acid batteries. The LED module is easily removable and mounts on the positive terminal block at the bottom, and the old pilot mounting screw holes via adaptor posts at the top. Heat produced is dissipated into the pre-existing lamp metalwork Battery is 5 ampere hour Li Ion
cell solidly potted and waterproof. Standard battery can slip it into your
breast or side pocket, or mount it on a belt, your choice. Helmet battery is the
same as for the UniStar. £50 plus £4 return Post and Packing as a conversion of your old Oldham caplamp. Headset and battery lead only required, lead can be chopped off at the battery lid. Always in stock. With either long lead for belt mount (illustrated) or short helmet mount cable. Add £5 for detachable battery as illustrated for the UniStar. |
CAUTION Some Oldham lamps are now 45 years old!. Beware of: #1 Cracks in the headset through to the charging keyway. If it has a history of letting in water, JUNK IT. #2 Battery leads can corrode inside the rubber insulation and outer sheath at the battery end. This introduces a resistance or break. I can cut them shorter by a few inches but still dodgy, obviously if helmet mount all corroded cable would be cut out. For lamp built on one of my stock headsets, new ex-Royal Navy expired shelf life, manufactured 1996 - 2002, add £15. |
