I last visited this mine in the early 1990s, and how it has
changed!
My initial descent was down a pitch that I remember well from my last
visits in the early 1990s, a loose section of rock that I used to hate
abseiling past was now missing. The landing was on timberwork that
appeared to have sections missing from my earlier visits. One area that
hadn't changed was the first part of what could be called the "main stope"

Leaving the last pitch brings out below this stull.

Turning left from the way in............................

Through here eventually takes you to this area.....

Proceed forward under the timbers takes you to an area of false floor. Above
photograph taken in 1992.

This has deteriorated dramatically since the time I was last in. In 1992 one
could walk on it for a short distance........To try this now would be fatal!

Nice drop below if you tried it and went through! This is looking up to below
the floor in the previous picture. The only way to proceed is a climb down to
where the figure is standing.

This is followed by an SRT pitch up the other
side.

In the other direction from the way in, one could reach a hopper ladderway
going down about 80 feet. I was able to descend this in 1992, but now it has all
caved in. As its uncertain what the rubble filled depression is resting on, a
traverse line was thoughtfully provided for the NAMHO trip

With so many people entering and leaving it was necessary to wait turn at
times.

Before prussiking out
Hope that you like my pictures. But remember they are copyright.
