  Networking (Our system)

This page sets out to explain our networking system.

Basically, user accounts are set up in our networking module. Each account can be private to a single user, or shared between several users. The administrator account will be set up already and cannot be deleted. Different users or groups can have different permissions set for them. For instance a receptionist may need to access the customer database to look up addresses and phone numbers etc, but should not be able to look into the companies accounts. Similarly, a salesman will need to be able to enter sale transactions, but not enter purchases or be able to get into the companies banking centre.

Any user or group member can log into any computer on the network and be recognised for whom they are and have their permissions or privileges. The user login is the same as the classic Windows login. However, our system differs from Windows in as much as the same account privileges exist locally or globally. In simple talk the account privileges are the same on any computer in the network.

Their login will be confirmed.

So what about the actual security.

Well, nowhere is the the password stored "as is". It is stored in its encrypted form and is therefore useless to anyone. The encryption is such that the CIA could not crack it! (here is a challenge if they visit this site!)

There is also a facility to log off rather than closing the application if a user has to leave his  or he machine unattended. It simple and easy to use, below is a user account from the admin module.

The key number is matched to the encrypted password and used to decrypt, but not in any way that a person with basic programming knowledge could "crack", it does not use any standard character code such as ANSI that a cracker could work to, instead it uses a character code of our own hidden inside a code module. A pretty poor password such as "sissy" (only 5 characters with 3 re-occurring) can come out as AXCYZ

Our standard deployment for quoted prices is as a non client server setup, we can however supply client server installations for larger organisations. This would require licensing for Microsoft's SQL Server with the appropriate number of client access licenses. (CALs)

Our non client server standard installation is very easy on resources, and does not require any special or high specification hardware.
