From time to time I buy in batches of
lighting products which will only be available while stocks last.
I recently
purchased a batch of LED caplamps labelled as manufactured by IEE of
Spain, however the design is Gokang of South Korea. So either manufactured
under license or re branded.
Purchased as faulty, all had the original 18650 Ni MH cells US and
probably battery electronics according to my tests, therefore I have
fitted all with new 18650 Li Ion cells and my own control electronics.
Some had broken switches as well, these have been stripped and fitted with
standard Oldham switch and contacts etc and then fitted with my own
WorkStar Pro LED module.
The belt mount battery case appears to be of a particularly good design
with swivelling belt loops. It now holds 3 parallel cells giving 7500 mAh
at a nominal voltage of 3.7 volts. The cells are potted in addition to the
watertight integrity of the case.
The headset is quite sturdy; the only criticism is that the cable exit is
at the top, rather like the original Raptor. I have tested these lamps for
watertight integrity and they are OK, but as additional precaution I have
silicone sealed the cable gland.
The condition of these lamps is very good, some quite crisp.

Unchanged headset, plus new Fellows rebuilt battery pack. Burn duration is
36 hours, this is not a typo. Beam is OK, I tested it in a slate mine,
it’s very narrow and with a good throw, probably similar to other LED
miners lamps.
Charging is done from supplied 'through the headset' charger, now included
with the price.
“On charge” is indicated by the pilot flashing.

2 Cree Q5 XRE LEDs each driven at 700 mA, one has tight spot similar to
Fenix TK11 on non turbo mode, the other a wider beam, each working from
the alternative switch positions.
