In 1973 I formed a finance company for the purpose of financing used vehicles being sold from a garage that I owned. I rapidly found out that this included quite a lot of paperwork, not to mention quite a bit of math associated with discount calculation etc. In the early 1990s I became interested in computers and started learning basic programming and development techniques. By 1996 I was running both my finance company and the motor sales company on a personal computer using software that I had written.  A friend was in similar business, and soon asked me to provide him with a copy of my software. Later, someone else asked me again. Over the years my interest deepened, and the software was expanded to incorporate more and more features. In 1998 my wife died of cervical cancer, and due to a depression in the car trade and the fact that my wife had helped to run the businesses, the motor company was wound up. At that time I had already made the decision to go into business developing software in a serious way, and at the end of that year I formed Iris Computers Ltd as a vehicle to realise that ambition.

To a large degree I was fortunate in having a ready customer base from my friends in the motor trade, upon which is build. The latest versions of my software has as many features and capabilities as anything else on the market, albeit at a more than reasonable price. Regardless of this, the software has retained the ease of use for which it was notable from the very start. All of the software that I develop has a common theme. That of doing what’s required in way that the user finds enjoyable. It my sincere hope that using my software will not only increase the efficiency of your business, but also its profitability, while making your working lifestyle more enjoyable.
